Redefining "Normal": Surviving and Thriving in a Pandemic
In less than a year, people have seen the world transform in ways that no one expected to witness in their lifetime. Yet this is not unprecedented. Time and again through history, humanity has faced such challenges. The key issue is that the world will never be the same. Why? Because normal is a state of mind and is constantly changing.
The reality is although certain parts of our previous lifestyles will return, many will not. So what now? It is important to learn the skill(s) to intentionally shift our mindset, to adapt how we think in a way that will create opportunity for all of us. When we do this, we are able to let go of the idea that "normal" is a place we can return to and we can move forward and help make the world a better place. “Resilience” is core to surviving and thriving in a new normal. We need it on a personal and organizational level. When we choose to embrace our current, hopefully short lived situation, it becomes easier to adapt to current circumstances. As the world deals with and moves past COVID-19, as leaders we can prepare ourselves for the next challenge that may emerge; surely different than before.
This presentation explores what it takes to embrace adaptability ideas and how to practically change your relationship with the idea of "normal". We will explore the benefits and real world examples of how successful individuals and businesses have made this a core strength.
