New health and safety award tops them all
(May 1, 2014 – Mississauga, ON) Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS), in collaboration with its strategic partners in the CEO H+S Leadership Network, this week proudly unveiled the nomination criteria for what has been described as the highest honour among health and safety awards in Canada.
Canada’s Best Health + Safety Culture Award, sponsored by Levitt Safety, is the latest addition to the Canada’s Safest Employer (CSE) Awards. It recognizes an employer that exceeds traditional health and safety practices by impacting the broader community beyond the confines of their own workplaces.
“The award was inspired by the CEO H+S Leadership Network, a distinguished group of forward thinking senior leaders who embrace their role, both collectively and individually, as champions and influencers in the growth of sustainable businesses and communities in Ontario - and beyond,” says Elizabeth Mills, President & CEO of WSPS, one of the Network’s founding partners.
In joining ranks with the CSE Awards and Thomson Reuters’ Canadian Occupational Safety Magazine, WSPS is proud to lead this newly minted honour as it earns its position at the top. It recognizes an entire organization - not just an individual – for outstanding contributions to building health and safety cultures and inspiring transformative behaviours within their networks and areas of influence.
“Organizations that apply for this award understand the correlation between organizational health and optimal business performance. They recognize that by strengthening their brand and firmly establishing their organization’s reputation as a leader in creating sustainable workplaces and communities,” says Ms. Mills, adding: “We are grateful to have Levitt Safety as the title sponsor because of their long-standing tradition as a provider of safety services and one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies.”
The nomination criteria, which were revealed as part of this week’s CEO Leadership H+S Network Inaugural Round Table, focus on the areas of: leadership - safety values and action; accountability and integration; corporate social responsibility and change management; and organizational performance and evaluation.
The award is open to Canadian organizations that have been in business for at least five years, and employ more than 50 people. Nomination forms are now available at http://www.safestemployers.com/best-culture-award/, with nominations closing July 15, and winners announced this fall at the CSE Gala.
